In this blog, we discuss the similarities and differences between the Youredi vs. Dell Boomi iPaaS solutions. The purpose of this comparison is to answer the question that we frequently hear that how is Youredi’s iPaaS different from Boomi’s. While Boomi is integration platform is extremely popular for the right reasons, there are clearly gaps that the Youredi iPaaS is filling in.
But before diving into the detail, let’s step back a bit and look at the definition of the iPaaS solutions in general.
Integration platform as a service (iPaaS), is a sub-segment of a broader concept of PaaS (platform-as-a-service) solutions that have been out in the market for many years. PaaS, on the other hand, is a category of cloud computing services that provides a platform allowing companies to develop, run, and manage applications without the complexity of building and maintaining their own infrastructure typically associated with developing and launching an app. Hence by iPaaS, we mean an infrastructure platform specifically designed and built to enable and support integration development.
The iPaaS market has been developing very rapidly over the past few years. The traditional integration tools and technologies have failed to keep up with the rapid development of the other business applications. Therefore, companies today consider iPaaS as a tool to overcome the challenges of hybrid integrations as they need to balance between managing their often very complex business requirements combined with their never-ending budget constraints and still achieve ever faster time to integration.
iPaaS platforms are typically used for different integration scenarios when there is a need to find a solution that is capable of handling a broad range of integration needs, including data integration, hybrid integration (on-premise systems to cloud applications), business-to-business (B2B), API management, internet of things (IoT) integrations and even mobile application integrations.

Youredi’s iPaaS is a native cloud-based platform designed to fulfill the integration needs of businesses of various sizes, starting from simple one-to-one integrations to the most complex multi-system integration needs. These integrations may include connecting enterprise IT systems and applications, transferring & transforming data, or orchestrating business processes. Youredi’s iPaaS platform is designed to rapidly apply customer specific integration solutions that support the diverse business needs of the user. Youredi’s iPaaS platform provides full visibility to the business-critical data across all processes by connecting systems and applications, which then helps companies streamlining their operations and ultimately become more productive and profitable. Youredi’s platform is extremely versatile: besides B2B system and data integration it also enables API management services, master data management (MDM), or internet of things integration services.
Dell Boomi’s integration platform as a service (iPaaS) called “AtomSphere” is also a native cloud-based solution. The customers can use the solution through their web-browser without having to install any specific applications or software on their desktop or laptop. Dell Boomi is a multi-tenant platform that supports integrations between two or more systems and applications whether it’s cloud-to-cloud, on-premise to on-premise, or hybrid integration scenario. In addition to typical enterprise application integration, Dell Boomi also provides API management and master data management capabilities, just like Youredi.
So, from the outset it seems like there are many similarities between the two solutions. One could even say that these two iPaaS solutions look more or less identical from the functional point of view and in all honestly that is partly true: most iPaaS solutions will perform the same tasks in theory – but there are differences in capabilities and fit for use cases. However, as the saying goes “In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.” So, let’s have a look at the major differences between the two solutions.
Dell Boomi iPaaS solution is targeting developers that need a simple and easy to use integrations tool with flexible business logic. Dell Boomi has developed a number of standardized adapters to other applications. Dell Boomi has traditionally been concentrating on integrations with major platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, NetSuite etc. In a sense, you can think of these adapters as a sort of Lego blocks that can be used for building the integrations – to connect with the applications they need quickly, so they would be able to access information.
Just like building Legos, the use of the Dell Boomi platform requires instructions and at least some expertise in integration. While the Dell Boomi platform offers many features and functionalities, even Dell Boomi does not claim that the integrations would be 100% ready “out of the box”. The user still needs to build and configure integrations. To help with this, Dell Boomi has put a lot of emphasis on their graphical “Drag & Drop” user interface and offers training courses on how to use their environment.
Youredi’s approach to integration is somewhat different to Dell Boomi. While Youredi iPaaS offers adapters to the most common applications, the strategic focus of the company has always been to develop solutions that are “application agnostic”. This means that Youredi iPaaS solutions can be easily fitted for any application or platform with limited set-up effort needed. So, in comparison to Dell Boomi “application specific Lego blocks”, the Youredi “Lego blocks” are more versatile in their use. However, what they will require is a bit more expertise and experience on how to use them.
This brings us to the major difference between the Youredi and Dell Boomi iPaaS solutions, namely providing the required human resources into the equation. Utilizing the Youredi iPaaS does not require integration expertise on the customer side. Youredi solution is provided as a fully managed “turn-key” service. There is no need for the customer IT resources to learn how to use the Youredi iPaaS platform, as Youredi provides all the expertise needed to develop and deploy the integrations. Besides, Youredi also monitors and manages all the integrations and fixes any issues that may appear as part of the iPaaS service.
Integration is often difficult and complex and beyond the core competencies of most in-house IT resources. Especially in the case of small and midsize businesses (SMBs), the requirement of maintaining dedicated and skilled resources to support integration requirements is not financially viable, and most SMBs also experience great difficulties in attracting the right type of talent into their organizations. Many times, even if they can find a candidate with the right skill set, simply the salary request of such individuals is at times beyond their budget.
If in-house resources are not available to an SMB company, they must resort to using a third-party professional services provider to build the integrations. These services are in high demand in today’s market and are therefore typically quite costly, and the providers of such services may have varying skills in deploying the iPaaS solution. In the worst-case scenario, this may multiply the total cost of ownership of the iPaaS solution many times over.
Youredi acts as a “one-stop-shop” for the end-to-end solution. Therefore, the customer will get the best possible integration solutions for its needs without having to look for technology and service providers separately. Everything is provided under a single SLA, which assures the quality of the execution throughout the entire lifecycle of the project.
